Media- "Irresponsibilty Personified"

Who is responsible for the Saurav Ganguly episode??
Ganguly was out of the team owing to health issues and his companions like V.V.S Laxman and Yuvraj Singh played well in his absence. He therefore, needs to fight to win his place back.
But why does the media create an issue about it??
Is he bigger than the game??
Or the game himself?
Before the ODI at the Eden Gardens Kolkata, the Telegraph, which is the most widely, read English newspaper in kolkata came out with an article on its cover. The article summarized the ODI as the contest between two individuals rather than two teams. It summed up that on that given day the battle was not between the Indian tigers and African elephants rather was a battle between the Saurav and Greg Chappell. Such article was of a rather bad taste and I think referring to this act as “irresponsible” on the part of such a powerful Press Agency is not an understatement.
There was a regional channel which had comments from local people as "No Saurav No Cricket" and “Aami Prothame Bangaali Tarpore Indian” which translates into "I am first a Bengali than an Indian". The same day on the eve of the ODI the Indians scored 188 or close to that. During the Interval the Electronic scoreboard showed that DADA scored a 138 not out against some side in Ranji cricket. The scoreboard was sponsored by the Telegraph group. This further agitated the supporters and it also hurt the sentiments of the Indian Side which had lost moral after half the match was over.
Such acts should be seriously regulated as they not only hurt the sentiments but also introduce a regoinalistic flavour into the masses.
The next days headline of the same newspaper read “INDIA 188 ALL OUT . SAURAV 138 ONE OUT”
The rest is history. Even the politicians “ne behte ganga me haath dho li” by politicizing the issue by discussing it in parliament. The Indian Leaders or more aptly called “Politicians” used the precious hours of the parliament to discuss this Bullshit. This episode shows that how foolish the masses are in India. There were also rumours of a “Bandh” in Kolkata but Dada chipped in and requested the masses to call it off.
Is this responsibility on the part of the Press?
A couple of days later Amitabh Bachan falls ill and guess what all the press and tv news channels give it exclusive coverage. I mean are we Indians fools? Each Newspaper headlines gave his medical developments its Cover story. Each news channels discussed his ailment at length for hours. Is this our “Sapno ka Bharat” where greater issues like education, illiteracy , aids awareness and corruption take a backseat?

I think it is time for a change.

Indian Concern

Hi I am a proud citizen of India. The views expressed are purely individual and not meant to hurt the sentiments of any country, community, sex, class or creed.
We Indians are indeed lucky to be blessed with everything.
Be it natural beauty or rich cultural heritage. But we seriously need to do something so as to we can market ourselves better.
We should promote national tourism at the international level in a big way. We should organize events such as Dubai shopping festival or Singapore Shopping festival. Apart from these need to market our rich cultural heritage. We should promote places like Manali and Darjeeling like Switzerland. We can definitely earn a lot more foreign exchange if we were to market ourselves better. More people in our country would be employed and better off if we try and create an image, which makes our country more appealing to foreigners.
If we stop quarrelling with our neighbors and gave an image that would reflect peace and simplicity we would definitely attract more tourism.
We need to carve out an Eiffel tower out of our Taj Mahal.
We can promote indigenous small things and pleasure like enjoying a Pan(betel leaf) drinking tea out of a Seekora(pot). Just imagine what would happen if our own Rossogolla went abroad. I am sure that our sweets like Jalebi would definitely satisfy every taste bud. India sweets are arguably the best sweet scoring over Belgium chocolates.
Our vegetarian food habits and spicy food is a big turn off now. But soon the world would follow us as it always has. Our tea is much soothing than coffee.
Our attire would too be a turn on. An Indian Saree always makes a woman more graceful and elegant.
Actually India today has been culturally imperialised by the west. We often take Indian goods as cheap whereas it must signify quality. We blindly copy the west.
We today do not need a leader but a statesman who can guide us. We need a man who can reinstate in ourselves that we are the best and have it in us if not conquer but rule the world.

First Impression is the Last Impression

Is the first impression the last??
i heard this saying by my aunt. I was getting late for the first day of my school. So she said the golden 6 words. I took me a while to understand the depth of these 6 words.
Later in life i found out that in every moment this saying stood right.
For instance we once went for a trip abroad. We were travelling by a travel agency. they were very complacent and laid back in their attitude. by now you would have guessed that was not our most pleasant trips abroad.
